Looking for Volunteers Staff for International Welcome Center (IWC)*

*September 2**nd** – September 21**st** *

*What is the International Welcome Center?*

Each Fall, more than 500 international students (including students in
the English
Language Institute) and visiting scholars and faculty come to OSU from more
than 80 countries.  Upon their arrival, there are many things to do to take
care to settle in to OSU.  They might not even know where and whom to ask!  The
International Welcome Center (IWC) is a welcoming place for newly arriving
international students, faculty and their families to ask questions, get
information, and meet other OSU students, faculty and staff.

*How does it work?*

Location: Weekdays: MU Learning Lounge (left of the main lounge)
                Weekends: West Residence Hall
Dates: Sept. 2 – 21, 2008 (including weekends)
Hours of Operation: Weekday: 8-10 am (unstaffed),10 am -2 pm (staffed), 2-5
pm (unstaffed)
                                 Weekend: 10:00- 2:00pm (staffed),

The Center is co-sponsored by the Office of Admissions (Admissions), English
Language Institute (ELI), International Student and Faculty Services (ISFS),
International Student of OSU (ISOSU), Memorial Union (MU), New Student
Programs & Family Outreach, University Housing & Dining Services (UHDS), and
Vice Provost for Student Affairs.

*How can I help?*

We are currently looking for volunteer staff who are excited to be part of
this first ever "International Welcome Center." Let's meet and greet the
international students and faculty who have just arrived in Corvallis and/or
the U.S., and help ease their transitions to the OSU.

*Job Description for Volunteer Staff *

ü       Provide information for international students, faculty and their
families at International Welcome Center

ü       Show newcomers how to take public transportation, take them to a
farmer's market and others. We are open to new Ideas and suggestions.
Please bring your creativity!

There will be two Volunteer Trainings offered to volunteers:

   *Option #1:** August 28 from 12 – 3 pm in 448 Snell Hall, or
      Option #2: August 29 from 9 am to 12 pm in 448 Snell Hall *

*You only need to attend one of these training sessions. Refreshments will
be provided.*

All volunteers are welcome!  Please note: We will provide T-shirt for those
volunteers who work at center 20 hours or more. However, we welcome those of
you can work a few hours to join us in this great new initiative.
