University Housing & Dining Services will be hosting "Lunar New Year: A Journey through Culture and Cuisine" on Thursday, Feb. 7th at Marketplace West during both lunch and dinner.  And we are excited to announce that this year's celebration will include celebrity Chef Jet Tila<http://chefjet.com/> from the Food Network.

We are inviting students who celebrate the Lunar New Year to join us in traditional dress to help welcome our guests.  All volunteers who participate for at least an hour would have an opportunity to enjoy either the lunch or the dinner for free.  (Please reserve your meal by emailing albert.worotikan at oregonstate.edu<mailto:albert.worotikan at oregonstate.edu> )

Event Announcement:
Acclaimed chef and Food Network television personality Jet Tila will visit Oregon State University on Feb. 7, where he will meet the campus community and public and prepare a feast as part of OSU's Lunar New Year celebration.
Tila competed on "Iron Chef America" and is a judge on the popular show, "Chopped."  He is a nationally celebrated chef and consultant, as well as a passionate teacher and student in the art of food.

The University Housing & Dining Services department will host  the celebration of the first day of the lunar calendar on Thursday, Feb.7, at Marketplace West's Ring of Fire restaurant on campus.  Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m.

Tila will be demonstrating his cooking technique and share some of his recipes from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. and 6:30 to 7:15 p.m., when he will meet with OSU students, staff and faculty, as well as the general public.  This portion of the event is free.

The special menu will feature Jet's Asian broccoli salad with crispy noodles and spicy basil pork.  Also on the menu are roasted duck leg in Mandarin orange sauce, braised beef short ribs in plum sauce, Buddha's feast with tofu (vegetarian), crispy spring rolls, sweet sticky sesame rice cakes and other culinary favorites.  The meal will cost $9.
